A local trade association will host a free day of training Thursday for anyone interested in running for political office.

The Realtors Association of Northwestern Wisconsin will hold its Candidate Training Academy from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at its office at 1903 Keith St. in Eau Claire. “You do not have to be a realtor to attend this training, so we’re excited to be able to bring this opportunity to people who have a curiosity about candidacy,” said Bruce King, the group’s government affairs director.

The academy will provide participants with an understanding of what it takes to run for political office at the local or state level and an overview of the topics to consider before making that leap. The course is taught by a nationally renowned campaign specialist and is being brought to Eau Claire as a partnership of RANWW and the La Crosse Area Realtors Association.

Enrollment is limited, so interested individuals are asked to register by emailing King at bruce@ranww.org.
