Even With High Prices and Low Inventory, Eau Claire's Housing Market is Still Affordable For Home Buyers

Eau Claire, WI - Tight inventories and high median home prices are causing lower home sales across the state in September according to the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association. Following suit, Chippewa County saw a 27.7% decrease in home sales in September, and Eau Claire County saw a decrease in home sales by 12.3% compared to last September.

Along with the rest of the state, Eau Claire County saw an increase of 10.2% in home prices, up to a median of $258,950 compared to last September. Conversely, Chippewa County saw a decrease of .04% in median home prices at $228,000 compared to last year.

"With low inventory and high demand, we are in a strong seller's market. However, the mortage rates are keeping Wisconsin housing realtively affordable for buyers," said REALTORS® Association of Northwestern Wisconsin Executive Vice President Brenda Barnhardt.

Mortgage rates have remained stable all year with rates under 3% for the fifth straight month.

"With Eau Claire and Chippewa County inventories at just 3.4 months, we suggest working with a REALTOR® to help you find the best fit for you in this fast-paced market" said Scott Rohde, RANWW Board President."
